Résumé

How can music from Brussels talents influence the taste of chocolate? This project let people experience how music can enhance the flavour of chocolate, which will make them aware about the power of their senses.

Description

Sablon is one of the most sensational neighbourhoods in Brussels. Since the sixties, art and antique dealers seduce their clients from all over the world with extraordinary objects. Nowadays, the dealers are also accompagnied by the world famous chocolate shops that help making artistic dazzlingly window presentations to showcase their creations. Unfortunately, its commerce has been affected with the recent terrorist menace.

Following this existent problem, we wondered: How could we add value to one of the Belgian flagships, that at the same time is fully present in Sablon? In other words, how could we reinvent the experience of eating chocolate?

In order to put Brussels as a creative capital, we decided that musicians could participate in this innovative approach. By inviting people to taste chocolate in combination with different songs, we want to make people aware on how their senses interact while enjoying food. The scientific basis for these innovative approach is being developed here in Brussels, by one of our colleagues. This unique multisensory journey will be co-designed between local chocolatiers, musicians and scientists. In this way, the Sound of Chocolate invites people to slow down and to get immersed by their senses.
We believe that this innovative layer into the identity and history of Sablon, will give the different local commerces an alternative, and perhaps, a long-term opportunity to potentially boost their sales and visibility. In order to create an original and authentic gift from Brussels, we will blend the creative talents from the most different fields.
